We hear it all the time: sitting is bad for our health. And we feel it too: low back pain, tight hips and shoulders, and sore necks. Learn about the muscles that are affected by sitting and how to release and strengthen those same muscles from where you sit. This workshop includes sitting and standing postures and relaxation techniques that can be done from a chair or workstation. Chair Yoga is a practice for all ages.
Laura Edoff has been practicing yoga since 2008, and teaching since 2012, in private, studio, corporate, and university settings. She has over 900 hours of training and is receiving her Masters of Science in Yoga Therapy from Maryland University of Integrative Health. While yoga is thought of mainly as stretching in the West, yoga is actually rooted in an ancient spiritual practice. At the same time, clinical research shows how yoga reduces stress, improves sleep, and supports the immune system, among many other benefits, while connecting oneself to a sense of purpose. It's the combination of physical, mental, and spiritual health that has inspired Laura to share this practice with others. She works with people experiencing stress, anxiety and depression, insomnia, infertility, chronic and acute pain, and injury prevention/recovery.
